supporting other artists to intentionally create for holistic healing and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

The Which House is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Founded in the belief that arts are an essential human right because they are essentially–fundamentally–human. They have the power to heal as well as entertain and educate. Western science continues to bear out the facts of what many have known since time immemorial: “art is how we human.” –Tasha Golden, PhD

Support comes in many forms. TWH team is made up of artists with experience in deep listening and serving the process, and the people, behind the project. If it’s a rock to lean on, a cheerleader to keep a project progressing, or logistic and strategic advice, we’re invested in our partners’ success. Our main goal is always to integrate an intentionally healing process that cannot help but produce a verifiably healing outcome.

This is what lights us up. When ideas are flowing, new connections are forming, when conflict is approached with curiosity, and people have a purpose and a drive to improve the world within and without. We are social creatures who need to be in contact with each other to thrive. We all work better when there is mutual respect and recognition of the inherent value of each and every one of us.

The minutiae, the filing, the buck-stop (if you will), we are the ones who lift the burden of worrying “what if I get this wrong?” We want our artists to be able to focus and dedicate as much brain power and emotional energy to their project as possible. So we take on tasks that for many artists would be overwhelming and project-ending.
“In my audiences, clients, research, and my own life, I’ve witnessed how creativity helps us re-see ourselves, our work, and our worlds.
“Arts interventions can lower the burden and cost of chronic and degenerative diseases, mental health challenges, addiction, and trauma.”

Beyond Bars is a curriculum created by Caitlin Cannon in collaboration with the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County, FL. The CAA through their Prison Art Program has developed, trained, and facilitated the classes at Walton Correctional Facility for 100 inmates and counting. The Which House is here to support the Beyond Bars Collective–a group of trainees with a desire to expand to other locations outside of Walton County.
This program changes the lives of both the songwriters and the incarcerated participants, and your support directly helps support artists of all backgrounds.

Where your money goes: our partnership with CAA is such that a donation to their Prison Art Program funds the hosting and training of new songwriters at Walton Correctional Facility to teach the Beyond Bars curriculum. A donation to The Which House funds the Collective’s efforts to bring the curriculum to other prisons outside of Walton County. Please, consider a donation to both organizations to fund the entire pipeline from training to execution.
